Oh, well that is just the cutest thing ever.
Paper, paper everywhere and not a drop of ink.
NOTE: Slowly migrating my WordPress blog over to Tumblr. Sorry for all the backdated posts popping up in your feed this week.
Oh, well that is just the cutest thing ever.
I’m considering switching from Wordpress to Tumblr. I’ve been using self-hosted WP for almost a year now, and the annual fee + my shitty webhost are making me wonder if I even need all of that. I mean, I basically jot down a few thoughts and post the occasional picture, right? Nothing complicated. So why do I even need a self-hosted page? (The answer is that I initially wanted a customizable theme, otherwise I probably would’ve stuck with regular WP.com.)
And Tumblr’s backend is so easy. Everything’s so pretty over here, whereas WP is clunky and wordy. It’s the difference between flipping through a magazine and poring over a dictionary. …Except along those same lines, it’s much easier to search through a dictionary than a magazine - WP has a GREAT archive/catalog system that lets me search by tag, category or date. Tumblr’s archives are a little less defined.
On the other hand, Tumblr lets you reblog and be reblogged, and it’s probably a lot easier to gain readers/followers here (it gets lonely being a WP blogger). But WP lets me have my own media library, and I just like the control of hosting my own blog. Also, the WP widgets are easier to work with than having to dig through theme code here for the sidebar. But I feel like I might potentially blog more often if I migrated to Tumblr, and isn’t that the whole point? Of course, then there’s the whole issue of exporting and backdating every single old WP post I ever wrote, which is a massive pain in the ass, so there’s that. Sigh.
So do I stay or do I go?
UPDATE: Serendipitously, Serena just wrote about this issue last week. Timely! Oooh, I’m leaning toward switching to Tumblr already, and I haven’t even finished reading her post.

How much do I love the Nic Hess mixed-media masking tape installation at the Hammer Museum? Answer: a lot.
This sums it up nicely.
